We've
read in the papers that the agreement with Ascoli was reached,
in part, thanks to Mazzone. Was he the only connection, or did
you know somebody else in the team or management before you
came to Ascoli?
GP: Mazzone was the first to speak to me.
Did
the talks with Ascoli start before or after your departure from
Bologna?
GP: The talks started after I said goodbye to Bologna.
The
main reason to say goodbye to Bologna was...?
GP: The main motive was coach Ulivieri.
How
long did it take to reach agreement with Ascoli?
GP: One meeting was enough.
The most important thing for you in talks with Ascoli was...?
GP: Serie A.
Do you have an agent? And if you do, who is it and how long
has he represented you?
GP: His name is Vincenzo Rispoli and I have had him for more
than 15 years.
How is the environment at Ascoli, where do things stand between
the team and the fans?
GP: It's very warm, the fans are very loyal.
How were you received?
GP: Very well.
With the departure of General Manager Pulici, who will take
his place temporarily?
From your point of view, is it an important change?
GP: I don't know who will take his place.
In the teams with which you have played, how were the relationships
between the players and management?
GP: I'd say good.
In Serie A, who would be the "model president"?
GP: Moratti.
What do you think of you relief goalkeepers, Eleftheropoulos
and Boccolini? What kind of people are they and how strong are
they as keepers? Do they treat you like a comrade or a professor?
GP: They are quite good and they treat me with a lot of respect.
In your opinion, are there different goalkeeping styles? Are
they national schools or adaptations to how a team plays and
the individual goalkeeper's strengths?
GP: Yes, each keeper has his characteristics and each nation
has a system.
How do you get along with the goalkeeping coach, Roberto Bocchino?
GP: Good.
How are you feeling physically, are you training on a separate
regimen or with other keepers? When do you hope to return to
the field?
GP: Yes, I'm training separately, and I hope to return to the
field in 2 or 3 weeks.
How did you learn English? And how did Aurora learn it?
GP: I know little English, and so does Aurora.
By the way, does she still model every once in a while, or does
she have enough to do already with Mattia, Sistema Solare, etc.?
GP: She does not model anymore. Now she has Sistema Solare to
take care of and then there's Mattia who takes a lot of time
and attention.
