Today, Gianluca, was quite a game for you: you got applause from both teams’ fans.
“Everything was very nice, yes, but I let in two goals…”
What did you think of Bologna?
“It was a good game for us, especially as long as we remained at 0-0, then, after the score became 0-1, thanks to Recoba’s chance assist to Martins (Recoba himself wanted to shoot), we became unsettled and let in another goal on their counterattack. This was not very smart of us, if we had finished the first half down by only one goal, the second half could have been different.”
Did things go better in the second half?
“The second half was very good for us, we put pressure on them. Altogether, we played a good game, one of the best this season. But we lost, so there’s nothing to be happy about, even though we are not as depressed as after the loss to Roma.”
Against Inter, though, even a loss counts.
“It was important to win with Ancona and it will be important to get a positive result at Siena, against our two direct competitors. In games like the one today, it’s important to show character and determination, and I think we did that.”
There is still the problem of scoring.
“We tried, we came very close, but we have to be concerned, we’re fifth from the end.”
How did you find Cruz as an opponent?
“I saw a lot of him: he was shooting at the goal from every position. He only made one mistake, after ten minutes, when he waited too long to shoot and Moretti did well to block him. As for the rest, good job.”
And what about Vieri, who started on the bench?
“He’s a great player, but Inter has shown that they can also do without him. But then, when you have Cruz and Martins, besides Recoba…”
You have managed to change the booing of two months ago to applause, today everyone was with you.
“I was very, very happy to see the banner in the Inter fan sector, and to hear the chants from the Andrea Costa benches. I hope that it stays this way until the end of the season. I know that depends on me most of all and I will continue to do my best. But I hope that Bologna also wins more games.”
