JUVE ACCORDING TO GIANLUCA PAGLIUCA

The team that won was the most...
“...fortunate.”

Juventus has won. You predicted that Inter would. Did you expect this finish?
“I had said Inter or Juve. Inter having given it up, Juve won. Half of my prediction was right.”

It is said that Inter did not really lose the championship on the last day. When did they lose it? And when did Juve win it?
“Inter lost it at home with Atalanta. Juve won it... with Tarantino’s own goal!”

Which Juve player was decisive in the conquest of the championship?
“Nedved.”

Juve won with Trezeguet, to the detriment of Inter with Vieri. The two forwards were at the center of negotiations last summer. Moggi was right to keep the Frenchman...
“Yes, Trezeguet is great, outstanding: he has demontrated that indisputably.”

From a goalkeeper’s point of view, which one of the two is stronger?
“At this moment, Trezeguet is the strongest: he is a complete player, he plays well with his head, and is also strong from both feet. He is in great shape and is also quite gifted.”

And Del Piero?
“He picked up speed at the end. After the criticisms, he had a very good finale. My compliments to him.”

So it’s alright to leave Baggio at home for the World Cup?
“Yes, there are Del Piero, Totti, Doni. I think that’s enough.”

The criticism against Lippi and Juventus turned out to be unjustified in the end. Could it have contributed to the team’s motivation?
“Yes. We were criticized this summer, too, and we have had a good championship.”

Three adjectives to describe Luciano Moggi.
“Skillful, fortunate, intelligent.”

Three adjectives to describe Marcello Lippi.
“I prefer not to respond.”
